Marine Safety Services was established in ???? by Donald Gunning and is based out of Newport RI. The idea of a Marine Safety Services started with an incident that occurred at the ???? St. Barths Bucket Regatta. When a sailor became critically injured Donald Gunning was able to stabilize the injured sailor and transport them to the hospital safely. After this incident, Donald Gunning thought these races should have a well-experienced and highly trained team to help protect and potentially rescue someone out on the water. Thus Marine Safety Services was born and was most recently the official marine safety service for The Ocean Race Newport 2023 .
